This year's program theme, "ART-a-tude", challenges participants to look at the world through the eyes of an artist. Think about it!
Can you find art or beauty in the every day world? How would you represent it?
Is there music in the sound of a friend's or family member's voice?
Is there rhythm in the sound of nature or the flow of your day?
How would your emotions sound if you played them on a drum or other instrument?
Could you choreograph a dance to show how you feel or what you think?
Could you create a piece of visual art from ordinary items you find in your home or classroom?
What colors would you use to represent your emotions?
These questions and more will help you frame your own "Art-a-tude". Have fun and get creative!
All classrooms in GISD programs are invited to participate in VSA Michigan - Genesee County programs.
ART-a-tude 2010 Registration Form
Due Date: Tuesday November 9, 2010
Activity Calendar: September 2010-June 2011
Each program needs to be sure to have representation on the district committee's monthly meetings. We could use your help as an officer too! This year, the meetings will take place on the second Wednesday of the month from 3:30 p.m. -5:00 p.m. Locations will be announced monthly. For more information about meeting locations, check our online calendar. The following programs are planned for the 2010-2011 school year: Five festivals, VSAMI-GC art exhibit at the Flint Children's Museum in March; and professional development for teachers in two locations.
The registration fee is $10.00 per classroom plus $1.00 per student materials fee. We have not raised the registration fee since VSAMI-GC's inception. This money enables us to put more dollars into the festivals to pay our artists for their valuable contributions and to pay for particiants' festival shirts. Attached are an application and a list of staff responsibilities to keep handy. A schedule of planned activities, fundraisers, volunteer opportunities, t shirt order form and three calls for art are also attached. Please read them all, volunteer for some and participate as much as possible. You may submit your registration to your building representaive. T shirt order forms will be distributed to the classes that register and will be due in January, 2011.
Please be sure to pay your registration fees by check.
Thank you for your interest and enthusiasm. For more information, contact Carolyn Vierkorn by email: cvierkorn@sbcglobal.net or cvierkor@geneseeisd.org or by phone at 810-513-4454. Please note your responsibilities when you register your classroom or group.

Call or email the program coordinator (Carolyn Vierkorn) should any questions or concerns arise.
To record as much as possible on film and/or video tape remembering to include only those with MEDIA RELEASES.
